Dance Styles.....
Ballroom & Latin American
One of the more popular and well known styles of dance around thanks to 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
These two different styles are commonly brought together, and with 8 completely different dances you will never get bored. Ballroom dancing consists of Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot and Quickstep, and Latin American of Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba and Jive/Rock 'n' Roll.
Our classes have a mixture of ages, are full of enjoyment and are ideal for those attending birthdays, weddings, cruises, or our social dances.
Argentine Tango
Argentine Tango is a social dance and a musical genre that orginated in Argentina and moved to Uruguay and to the rest of the world later on. In the US, it is commonly confused with Ballroom Tango, though this is a later derivation.
An intimate dance that is guaranteed to get you sizzling.....
Salsa
Fiery, romantic, sexy and fun, Salsa is the dance of the moment. Sensual, explosive and flirtatious, it evokes an irrepressible and irresistible urge to dance. The hot rhythms make this energetic and exciting dance one of the world's most addictive. Embracing Salsa is to discover a whole new world of music and zest for life. For beginners, Salsa is one of the more accessible forms of partner dance. You can also learn Merengue & Mambo as part of this fantastic course.
Sequence
Modern Sequence Dancing is an English activity based on the standard ballroom and Latin dances, including Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Rumba etc. However, everyone dances the same 16 bar routine together. The dance steps are all standardised, but because the same routine is being done by everyone they become quite easy and enjoyable. There are also some classical (or old time) dances but these are not very popular nowadays.
A very popular form of dancing due to the fact that, no matter where you go in the country, different dance clubs, socials and cruises play the same dances and you do not need a regular partner.
Philip Hurst has rekindled sequence dancing in the north west and brought the social dance back to life.

Rock 'n' Roll / Jive
Learn to Jive, love it forever!
When Elvis Presley came on at that last wedding reception party you went to, the guests probably took to the dance floor with the Jive. However, there are many different styles of jive that have adjusted to the various music phases throughout the decades. The 1920s Lindy Hop, 1930s Jitterbug and Boogie Woogie, 1940s Swing, 1950s and 1960s Rock 'n' Roll.
A great fun style of dance that will have you hooked.
American Smooth
American Smooth can be best described as a form of ballroom dancing with an enhanced repertoire of easy-to-perform, yet exciting, steps.
Anyone who has ever learned ballroom dancing will find American Smooth very easy to learn, yet refreshing, due to its interesting, rich syllabus.
The music used for American Smooth, Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz and Foxtrot is basically the same as that used for Ballroom as we know it in Europe, with the exception of Quickstep, which is not danced in the American Smooth style. In other words you can surprise your friends by dancing a totally new choreography to almost any ballroom dance music.
